VIGIL TO HONOUR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
The Australian women who’ve died as a result of domestic violence this year will be remembered at a candlelight vigil in Newcastle tonight.
The latest crime statistics show the number of incidents reported in the city has jumped 12.6 per cent.
The alarming rise prompted Rachel Bond to take a stand.
“I just felt compelled to go out with other like-minded people and to call on the government and to urgently do something to change women’s lives.”
The vigil will be held on Darby Street from 6:30 and everyone is asked to wear black and red.
