Buying fresh, good-quality produce is something many of us take for granted, but this weekend, Hastings residents had the chance to meet – and learn – from local farmers.
Run by Hastings Landcare, the Farm Gate Tours provide an insight into the daily operations of farms across the region.
Residents are also being encouraged to start their own veggie patch at home, and live a more environmentally sustainable life.
“We want to inspire them to grow their own food and to plant a garden, and we want to show that even in a relatively small space, this is isn’t a big yard, you can grow a lot of things”
The tours continue tomorrow.
