FLYING FOX MANAGEMENT PLAN TO BE CREATED
Council staff and state government agencies met in Tamworth today to discuss the best ways to manage a flying fox colony that’s taken up residence near homes on King George Avenue.
About half of the 40,000-strong colony is the grey-headed flying fox and approval is needed from the state government before any attempt is made to relocate the population.
Council has received a $10,000 grant from the Office of Environment and Heritage and will now work with residents and government agencies to create a management plan.
