Funding for Gunnedah hospital’s redevelopment was thought to be left out of this week’s state budget, however $2 million will go to the project through funding allocated to Hunter New England Health.
MP Kevin Anderson met with Health Minister Jillian Skinner late yesterday to discuss the matter, as well as calls for an MRI scanner to be based at Tamworth Hospital.
“We need to have those services closer to home, there is a private machine down in Peel Street but out of hours and on weekends, it’s not accessible.”
The minister says she’ll seek more information about what’s required to make it happen.
