ARMIDALE COUNCIL PUTS LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT ON BACK BURNER
Protestors rallied outside Armidale Council last night, as councillors voted on the future of a new city library.
Recently council decided to pursue federal funding for the $10-million project, but last night a rescission motion was put forward to overturn the decision.
The motion, lodged by Mayor Laurie Bishop and councillors Andrew Murat and Margaret O’Connor, was supported and the project has now been put on the back burner.
The mayor expects the development will be a top issue in next year’s local government election.
