TAREE COUNCIL VOWS TO STAND ALONE

Greater Taree City Council has made its submission to the state governmen’s Fit for the Future report, declaring it wants to stand alone and not amalgamate with nearby councils.
Council has also used its submission to request a review into the allocation of funds from the other tiers of government.
“We want changes to Federal and State funding models but if we don’t get that then we have no choice but to go to the community and have a conversation about rate increases, General Manager Ron Posselt said.
Councils says to maintain its infrastructure, it needs an additional 11 to $12-million a year.
