HIGHER INCENTIVES TO BRING DOCTORS TO THE BUSH
Doctors may be rushing to make a tree-change this financial year, with higher incentives now on offer to work in the bush.
Under a new federal government scheme, that came into effect today, the highest benefit paid for a doctor to work in remote Australia will increase from $47,000 a year to 60,000.
$23,000 will also be on offer for doctors to work in towns with a population of less than 5,000 people.
The new scheme will ensure the biggest incentives go to the smallest towns.
Around 450 regional communities are set to reap the benefits.
