HILLS PLAIN RESIDENTS TO BE HIT WITH HIGHER RATES

Landowners in Moore Creek and Forest Hills will be forced to pay almost $700 a year extra in rates.

The greater Tamworth City boundary has been expanded to include 238 properties from Browns Lane to Bournes Lane.

Those properties will now be classified under a different land category and as a result, rates will increase on average by $680 a year.

Council says the rate change remains under the 2.4 per cent rate cap.
