Despite recent rainfall MP Kevin Anderson is calling for permanent water restrictions in Tamworth.
Chaffey Dam is sitting at 48 per cent capacity, but Mr Anderson believes council needs to be careful when considering easing water restrictions at its next meeting.
He fears residents could become complacent, and increase their water consumption, if restrictions are down graded.
Mr Anderson is seeking a meeting with Mayor Col Murray to discuss the matter further.
