BUSH FIRE SEASON BEGINS FOR SEVERAL AREAS IN NORTHERN NSW
August marks the start of bush fire season for several areas in northern New South Wales.
There are several areas that will now require a fire permit including Armidale, Guyra, Glen Innes, Inverell, Tenterfield, Uralla and Walcha.
Maitland Rural Fire Service has said with the warmer days and dry winds, bushland can dry out quickly, potentially causing fires.
The NSW Rural Fire Service has some some key things to remember coming in to bushfire season:
- You need a fire permit during the Bush Fire Danger Period.
- Getting a permit is free and easy. Contact your local Fire Control Centre.
- There are heavy penalties if you don’t follow restrictions or rules.
