BILL FOR CSG MORATORIUM

The Greens, Labor and Christian Democrats have entered into a three-way pledge that would pause coal seam gas mining across New South Wales.

Earlier this year, Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham introduced legislation that would ban CSG activity across the state. That’s being amended on Thursday to enable a five-year moratorium for no-go zones in the Northern Rivers region and the Pilliga region.

The bill is expected to clear the Legislative Council, before going to the lower house for a vote.
