Detectives are looking into the cause of a fire that destroyed a house in the Hunter Valley this morning.
The Rural Fire Service was called to the home on Old Maitland Road at Allandale around 3am.
Flames had taken hold and the brick home was destroyed, along with a car and a motorcycle.
Emergency services were alerted to the fire by the driver of a passing coal train.
A family which lives in the home, was away at the time of the fire.
