STORM HELPS FIRIES EXTINGUISH GLENUGIE BUSHFIRE

A lightning strike is thought to have started a bushfire, which threatened homes and closed the Pacific Highway south of Grafton yesterday.
Traffic was stopped at Glenugie for almost an hour, as rural fire crews fought to contain the blaze.
The storm which started the fire, also helping to put it out.
Rural Fire Services Captain Ian Steel said, “They’ve done a top job to pull it up and a little bit of devine intervention from up above helped us tremendously.”
Local property owners thanked firefighers for saving their homes.
