JETS SIGN BRAZILIAN MIDFIELDER
The Newcastle Jets have secured Brazilian midfielder Leonardo Vitor Santiago for next season.
The 32-year-old, who’s due to arrive in September, has signed a one year contract with the club.
He’s traditionally a No.10 but is also capable of playing in wide positions, giving coach Scott Miller a new array of options in attack.
“We are excited to have a player of Leonardo’s experience and class joining our club,” Miller said.
“Leonardo is a player that we believe will add craft and spark to our team, inspire and entertain our members, and provide leadership through his actions.”
The import has a strong resume, having come through the youth system of Feyenoord before stints with NAC Breda, Ajax, Red Bull Salzburg, Ferencvaros and 1860 Munich.
Leonardo says he’s eager to start the next chapter of his football career in Newcastle.
“The A-League is a competition that I have heard good things about, and from what I have seen on the internet Newcastle looks like a great place to live.
“The start of the A-League season is not too far away, so I look forward to getting to Australia as soon as possible to meet everyone at the club, our fans, and to get to work.”
