ANOTHER ACCOLADE FOR MADDISON ELLIOTT

Hunter teenager Maddison Elliott has added another achievement to her long list, named Australia’s Paralympic Swimmer of the Year.
Elliott won four gold medals – and broke a world record – at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Her mentor Paul Sharman won the Paralympic Program Coach award.
“I’ve never won this award before and to find out I’ve won it this year has inspired me to push even harder for Rio next year and hopefully my coach will think the same.”

Mitchell Hughes

Mitchell Hughes started as a tape editor in Newcastle in 1999. He became a reporter in 2004, working in Lismore and on the Gold Coast. Since moving back to the Newcastle office in 2006, he's taken on various roles, such as producer and chief of staff. He became the head sport reporter in 2011 and the main sport presenter in 2015.
