UPDATE: BEACH CLOSED AFTER SHARK ATTACK

A Central Coast surfer says he was lucky to escape with just a minor hand injury, after being bitten by a shark this morning.

42-year-old Justin Daniels was surfing at Shelley Beach in the Wyong Shire around 6am when he was bitten on the left hand.

The Berkeley Vale local was treated by an off-duty paramedic.

He drove himself to hospital, but not before posting a photo of himself showing his bloodied hand on social media.
