A 24-year-old man will face Newcastle Court today after he allegedly fired a rifle during a scuffle with another man, at Blacksmiths overnight.
Police allege the man drove to a premises in Boikon Street, where he confronted a 21-year-old man.
The pair become involved in a tussle before it’s alleged a round was fired from the weapon. The younger man then managed to overpower the other and secured the gun.
The older man then ran from the premises and allegedly drove to Caves’ Beach where he was arrested in his vehicle by police and allegedly tested positive to drink driving.
He is expected to be charged with firearm offences.
