TAMWORTH MAYOR WEIGHS INTO HOSPITAL STAFFING ROW

The row over staffing levels at Tamworth Hospital has heated up, with Mayor Col Murray weighing into the debate.
A picture posted on social media yesterday shows a number of ambulances backed up at the hospital, which the Health Services Union says is a result of low staff numbers.
Mayor Murray is now calling for a meeting with local MPs, in a bid to resolve the issue once and for all.
“We do have an obligation to lobby on behalf of our community on various things and council have agreed to do some lobbying, or step up some lobbying with both the state and federal governments to better fund the health services.”
The Hospital’s General Manager maintains funding for the new hospital was always intended to upgrade facilities and not increase staff.
