Talks of merging the Central North and New England rugby union competitions for the 2016 season have been unsuccessful.
The proposal was discussed in detail at the recent Annual General Meeting, but it failed to gain the support of all the clubs.
Next season will go ahead as normal, with Wright College expected to make a return to the New England competition.
