POLICE CALL FOR ASSISTANCE OVER BYRON BAY ROBBERY

Police have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to regarding two armed robberies in Byron Bay last month.

On Sunday, the 27th of September, a 26-year-old woman was at an ATM on Jonson Street when she was approached by a man armed with a knife.

Police have been told the man threatened the woman, demanding money.

The woman screamed and ran from the scene, while the man left empty-handed.

Five minutes later, a 76-year-old woman was walking along Byron Street towards Middleton Street, when a man armed with a knife approached and threatened her.

Police say the man took the woman’s handbag and fled the scene.

Detectives from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command have been investigating both incidents, which are believed to be linked.

Anyone with information about the incidents or any witnesses, are urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
