Newcastle trainer Kris Lees will have two runners in Saturday’s Caulfield Cup.
Melbourne Cup champion Protectionist drew barrier 12, while NJC Horse of the Year Lucia Valentina has barrier 20.
Lucia finished third at Caulfield last year, before running 13th in the race that stops a nation.
