CALLS FOR THE $84-MILLION WHITTINGHAM UPGRADE TO BE FAST-TRACKED
A much-needed upgrade of a notorious intersection at Whittingham in the Hunter Valley is still at least 18 months away.
An $84-million project, which includes a flyover connecting the Golden Highway to the New England Highway, is planned by the state government.
But according to the RMS, the concept design won’t be displayed for community comment until late next year.
There are calls for it to be fast-tracked, after another recent, fatal crash in the area.
NRMA President Kyle Loades said “Look it’s so concerning, yet another fatality on Hunter roads – this is not the first in Whittingham, clearly it’s a black spot.”
