A 49-year-old man has been found guilty of the attempted murder of Gold Coast police officer, Gary Hamrey, in 2013.
A Brisbane Supreme Court jury returned its verdict this morning, two years after Robert George Speedy shot Sgt Hamrey in the cheek from close range with a .22 rifle, after police cornered him during an armed robbery.
Speedy had admitted to shooting the officer, but argued it wasn’t an attempt to kill him.
Speedy is due to be sentenced at a later date.
