POLICE URGE BUSINESSES TO BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR FAKE MONEY

Police are reminding business owners to be vigilant of counterfeit money, after a 72-year-old man was allegedly found to be using fake notes on the Mid North Coast.
It’s alleged the man was using a prohibited currency at a licensed premises in Evans Head on the weekend.
He was later charged with knowingly using counterfeit money, he’ll face Ballina Local Court next month.
Meantime, police say businesses can tell the different between authentic and fake notes by checking the security window’s Federation Star or a scrunching the note and flattening it out to see if it is polymer.
