Wet week ahead…
A broad low pressure trough has brought the heaviest rain in six months to parts of New South Wales, starting what will be a very
wet week for much of the state.
The trough triggered widespread showers and storms from Queensland down to Victoria with the heaviest falls occurring west of the
Great Dividing Range.
In the 24 hours to 9am today, Merriwa in the Hunter Valley picked up 39 millimetres, 9 fell in Scone while on the mid north coast, Mount Seaview recorded 18 millimetres.
Armidale had 15 millimetres overnight and 10 fell in Tamworth.
The highest totals recorded were in the Central Tablelands and Central West Slopes & Plains. Cassilis had the most rain in the state with 48mm reaching the gauge.
This kicks off what is set to be a very week for New South Wales. Widespread falls of 10-20mm can be expected with isolated falls
exceeding 50mm.
There is a severe thunderstorm warning for tonight for destructive wind and large hail for people in parts of the Hunter, plus the North West Slopes and Plains.
There is also a Strong Wind Warning for the following areas for tomorrow: Byron Coast, Coffs Coast, Hunter Coast.
