DECOMPOSED BODY FOUND IN GOLD COAST RIVER
A body found in a Queensland river on Thursday evening was so badly decomposed police haven’t been able to determine a gender.
A crime scene has been established on the bank of the Pimpama River on the Gold Coast after the body was located approximately 40m north of a bridge near Kerkin Road North.
People fishing in the river discovered the body and police are treating it as a suspicious death.
Detective Inspector Dave Hutchinson told the ABC there were a lot of facts yet to be established.
“We are unable to say at this point in time even what the gender is, the body has slightly decomposed,” Det Supt Hutchinson said.
“We are treating it as suspicious obviously and we hope to find out more about the deceased.”
The entire Kerkin Road North was closed on Friday morning with detectives set to return to the scene.
However, the body has been removed for a post-mortem and to determine a gender.
