PORT STEPHENS RENEW COMMITMENT WITH JAPAN

In a historic move, Newcastle and Port Stephens have renewed a 21 year-old commitment to wetlands conservation with Japan.
A mayoral delegation from Kushiro visited Newcastle today, to re-affirm the sister wetlands relationship.
Deputy Lord Mayor Michael Osborne and Port Stephens Mayor Bruce Mackenzie added their signatures on behalf of the Hunter Estuary.
The two cities are linked by the common shorebird, the Latham’s Snipe, with about 30,000 of the species travelling between Japan and Australia each year.
