There have been some big temperature differences near the coast thanks to weak onshore winds unable to penetrate very far inland.
The mid to high 30 degrees dominate the suburbs and towns across most of the region.
Tomorrow the NW winds will strengthen, pushing the heat all the way to the coast, especially for the Central Coast and Hunter.
Widespread mid to high 30 degree temps with the mercury set to hit 40 degrees for many locations including the NW Plains, Upper Hunter and Central Coast.
Relief arrives on Saturday as a southerly sweeps in.
There won’t be much in the way of rain just a burst of showers and storms.
Cooler conditions will settle in for all by Sunday.
