BOGEY HOLE CLOSED OVER SAFETY CONCERNS

Newcastle’s iconic Bogey Hole has been closed to the public due to safety concerns about falling rocks in the area.
The Department of Primary Industries has placed temporary fences around the swimming spot, while it carries out geotechnical investigations.
It comes after Newcastle City Council recommended to the department it be closed, after it conducted its own preliminary geotechnical investigations and found there was a risk of rocks falling.
The site is owned by Crown Lands.
A spokesperson for the Department says “While people will be disappointed that the Bogey Hole is not available at this time of year, public saftey must come first.”
