A driver had a lucky escape, when their car burst into flames on the Pacific Highway at Kempsey around 10:30 this morning.
Police diverted southbound traffic into one lane, as firefighters worked to clean up the burnt-out wreck.
The driver managed to retrieve their belongings from the car, before it was destroyed.
It’s believed a mechanical failure sparked the blaze.
