STONER SAYS ‘NEVER SAY NEVER’ TO FEDERAL POLITICS

State Nationals leader Andrew Stoner refused to rule out a tilt at federal politics, on the first day of his party’s conference at Port Macquarie attended by more than 400 delegates.
After saying last month that he had no plans to move to Canberra, Mr Stoner today left the door open.
The Deputy Premier also launched a stinging attack on what he described as ‘Labor-aligned independents’, such as federal member for Lyne, Rob Oakeshott.
Mr Oakeshott responded with a statement, saying the fact that the Nationals were spending money in his electorate was a good outcome.
