The effects of the Williamtown chemical spill are being felt at Hunter Water, with the corporation estimating it’s lost access to 1.5-billion litres of water since news of the contamination broke in September.
It has three pump stations inside the EPA’s red zone, and has had to stop using them indefinitely, while investigations continue into the spill.
Hunter Water says a long-term ban on access could threaten the region’s supply.
