BLUEBERRY FARM OPERATORS FOUND TO BE SHORT-CHANGING WORKERS
The operator of some Mid North Coast blueberry farms has agreed to pay back more than $46,000 in underpaid wages, following an investigation by the Fair Work Ombudsman.
Almost 140 seasonal workers, most of whom were overseas backpackers, were short-changed between July 2014 and January this year.
The largest single underpayment was $966.
The employer – trading as K S Benning & Sons – has agreed to repay all outstanding wages and entitlements, and is now subject to a range of conditions, including implementing systems to ensure future compliance and arranging human resources training in the workplace.
