RESIDENT’S GROUP WELCOMES REZONING REJECTION

A Hunter residents’ group has welcomed a decision by Newcastle Council, to reject a rezoning application for 26 hectares of bushland at Fletcher.
The Corridor Coalition group has been fighting plans to use the land for low-density housing since 2003, saying the region’s green spaces should be preserved.
“We don’t want it surrounded by development, because it’s all it’s ecological values disappear,” says Brian Purdue.
The developer was unable to be contacted today.
