Tamworth Regional Council will call for expressions of interest in the sale of the local velodrome next year.
A new facility will be built as part of the Northern Inland Centre of Excellence.
Tamworth Cycling Club says while the current velodrome is outdated, it hopes it will remain open until the new one is complete, as junior track racers still use it regularly.
Potential buyers will be called on, in February.
