GOVERNMENT CUTS TAKE ANOTHER CASUALTY

Organisers of the popular Saltwater Freshwater Festival have announced it will not go ahead next year.
Normally run in Coffs Harbour on Australia Day, the event – which celebrates indigenous culture – has attracted thousands to the region over the past six years.
Arts Alliance Aboriginal Corporation says the decision was made due to state government funding cuts earlier in the year.
Last year the event received a $10,000 grant as part of the state’s Regional Flagship Events program.
Organisers will meet in the New Year to assess funding options for the future.
