MAMMOTH SAND SCULPTURE TAKING SHAPE AT SURFERS

If you haven’t yet seen the Sand Sculpting at Surfers Paradise two of Australia’s best artists will be carving a mammoth 60 tonne, five metre high masterpiece over the next few days.
And they’re battling more than just the bad weather.
“The weight, of this sculpture, with the sand that we work in, so we have to be extremely careful we don’t get collapses because of the sheerness.”
The sculpture should be finished on Saturday.
All 11 pieces from the Australian Sand Sculpting Championships will remain on display until Sunday.
