PRICE TAKES LEAD IN DAKAR RALLY
Hunter rider Toby Price has stormed in the overall lead after stage 8 of the Dakar Rally.
28-year-old Price went into the day more than three minutes behind Portugal’s Paulo Gonclaves but ended it more than five minutes ahead.
Gonclaves crashed and damaged his navigation equipment which allowed Price to win his fourth stage of the rally.
“Paulo, me and him are battling,” Price said.
“It’s pretty much day for day. We take time off each other and I think it’s going to come down to minutes and seconds by the end of the week.
“He’s a real strong competitor and he’s got a lot more navigation skills than what I do, but we’re trying our best and
keeping ourselves in front as much as we can.”
The challenges keep coming for competitors as they prepare for the second two-day marathon stage.
