RIDERS VIE FOR SPOT IN AUSTRALIAN YOUTH WORLD CUP TEAM
Horse riders from across the country have spent the past four days training at Tamworth’s AELEC, hoping to score themselves a spot on the Australian Quarter Horse Association’s Youth World Cup team.
The group of 10 has been practicing a number of different disciplines, including trail and showmanship.
“How to sit, how their legs should be, body position, their confidence.”
Victoria’s Lana Kelderman competed at the past two World Cups in the Western Pleasure event.
“Typically it’s on the horse’s movement, but when it comes to Youth World Cup it’s more how you show the horse, how you present it and how you deal with situations you wouldn’t normally deal with.”
It’s the first year Nundle’s Natasha Rapley has applied for the team, which will be finalised at the end of the month.
