A 55-year-old male teacher has been charged over the alleged sexual assault of a teenager in the 1990s, on the state’s North Coast.
The charges follow a 17-month investigation into alleged assaults between 1995 and 1997 on a then 15-year-old girl, leading detectives to search a house at Woodburn, where a number of items of interest were seized.
The accused was arrested at the property and later charged with aggravated sexual assault and three counts of sexual intercourse.
He was refused bail and is due to appear before Ballina Local Court.
