Police are appealing for witnesses, after a 20-year-old man received facial injuries during a robbery in Newcastle this morning.
The man was walking along a laneway between Wharf Road and Hunter Street at about 2.20am, when four men stepped out of a car and began punching and kicking him.
They fled the scene in the car, taking cash and an iPod from the man.
The victim was taken to John Hunter Hospital.
