There’s new momentum in the long push for Newcastle and Sydney to be connected by high-speed rail, following discussions at Labor’s ‘Cities Taskforce’ meeting today.
Chair Andrew Giles spoke with federal MP Sharon Claydon and regional representatives, about what’s needed for the city to continue to grow.
“I don’t dispute there’s a lot of work to be done but if someone doesn’t start doing the heavy lifting it’s going to be too late,” said Ms Claydon.
Ms Claydon’s also pushing for the city to become more sustainable.
