ONE DEAD AND ANOTHER INJURED AFTER BEING STRUCK BY PASSENGER TRAIN IN MAITLAND

A 21-year-old man has died after being struck by a passenger train near Maitland on Friday night.

At around 10pm, the man and another 19-year-old male were on the tracks, about 300 metres east of Maitland station.

The older man died at the scene, while the teenager was treated for bruising and abrasions, before being taken to Maitland Hospital.

He remains in a stable condition.
