MOREE BOM OFFICE TO BE AUTOMATED
The Bureau of Meteorology is planning to remove staff from 24 regional weather stations across Australia over the next five years.
Moree’s office will be impacted, with the service to be fully automated within the next 18 months.
Across the state more than 30 employees will be affected, but those willing to move will be transferred.
Weather forecasting services will be centralised to capital cities.
The decision follows a staff review – part of the bureau’s 20-15 strategic plan.
