WEATHER: HEATWAVE AND CYCLONIC WAVES
The region is going to be very hot this week as summer ends on a scorching note.
North westerly winds will build drawing plenty of desert heat. Across the region, the mercury will soar.
Coastal communities will enjoy the benefits of the ocean sea breeze and relief will arrive on Friday in the form of a southerly.
The other major story is Cyclone Winston, which is still going strong. Winston will move south into the Tasman, generating a big swell that will affect most of the east coast.
Today Snapper had four to six-foot sets rolling all the way through to Kirra, with plenty more on the way with favourable winds.
Sea surface temperatures are so warm that Winston should maintain a large amount its of energy, travelling a lot further south than your average cyclone.
In the end Winston will be one of the longest lasting, most powerful and further-travelled south cyclones in recorded history for the southern hemisphere.
