A motorcycle rider is dead after colliding with a car in the Lake Macquarie suburb of Belmont.
At around 9:30 this morning, a Toyota Avalon travelling on the Pacific Highway attempted a turn onto an access road.
As the vehicle turned right, it collided with the motorcycle.
The 36-year-old male rider was rushed to John Hunter Hospital, but he died a short time later.
The 86-year-old driver of the Avalon was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
