THISTLES, BYRON BAY AMONG WINNERS IN ANZAC CUP OPENER

First grade players have pulled on their boots for the first time this year, with the preseason Anzac Cup getting underway over the weekend.

Regular season premiers, the Richmond Rovers, defeated Lismore Workers 4-2, while Casino went down to the Goonellabah Hornets and Alstonville defeated Lennox Head.

A new look Lismore Thistles left Bangalow scoreless, while Byron Bay ensured it was a tough return from hiatus for the Italo Stars.
