Armidale Dumaresq Council held a special meeting last night to re-draft its amalgamation proposal.
Last week, its request, which includes merging with Guyra, Walcha and Uralla was knocked back by the Local Government Minister, Paul Toole, due to incorrect wording in the document.
“We had a brief debate on it and then put the motion, it was passed by the same margin as last week, nine – one, so overwhelmingly in favour and it’s been sent off to the Minister for local government this morning.”
Mayor Beyersdorf believes the merger would be more beneficial to the New England region, than a two- council merger with Guyra.
