Newcastle boxer Kyron Dryden will be sentenced next month, for assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
The Mayfield athlete, known as The Hitman, was convicted in January of grabbing his former partner by the throat and slamming her to the ground, causing her to lose consciousness.
Magistrate Alan Railton today told the court Dryden hasn’t shown any contrition or remorse, and questioned whether community service is an appropriate punishment.
He requested as assessment be carried out to determine Dryden’s suitability for an Intensive Correction Order.
The matter will return to Newcastle Local Court on April 18.
