Copacabana’s Matt Wilkinson has taken out the Quicksilver Pro on the Gold Coast.
The 28-year-old secured his maiden world tour title, after a thrilling final against the USA’s Kolohue Andino.
Wilkinson secured the win with a 5.60 point ride with five minutes remaining in the final, lifting him to a two-wave total of 14.20.
His win means he’ll hold the world number one ranking heading into the next stop on the world tour at Bells Beach in Victoria.
